I trust only myself. I fell in love and she found someone else. I trusted my boss to increase my salary but he fired me. I told my friend my secrets but he told it to everyone and they made fun of me. So I learned to hide things from other people.
Why did you leave your previous job? (I got fired.) “I wanted to try a bigger company with more responsibilities.”
Why are you looking for a new girlfriend? (She dumped me because I’m cheap.) “I wanna find my soulmate.”
Why are you looking for an investment? (Because I want to drive the wave of technology, get as much money as I can and then dump it.) “Because I believe that Machine Learning will drive progress and make the world a better place.”
But now all of a sudden my relatives are friendly to me. People ask for my advice and value my opinion. And all the girls want to hang out with me.
I’m just a regular guy. I can’t tell them the truth; I know how it all ends, they will find out my secrets and laugh at me, use me and abuse me. I trust nobody.
